Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) is a ventilation system for the whole property. It supplies fresh filtered air whilst removing stale air throughout the home and recycles the heat generated within it by retaining most of the energy that has already been used in heating the building.
A MVHR system, when properly installed into a building provides a constant supply of fresh filtered air, maintaining the air quality whilst being practically imperceptible.
Put simply, MVHR extracts the air from the polluted rooms such as the kitchen, bathrooms and utility rooms and supplies fresh, clean air to the ‘living’ rooms, for example the bedrooms, living room and dining room.
The extracted air is taken through a central heat exchanger. This part of the unit recovers the heat into the supply air. This works both ways, if the air temperature inside the building is colder than the outside air temperature then the cooler air temperature is maintained.
